Named after the roman god of new beginnings, January can be an interesting one for hospitality. Perhaps this year, more than most, we wait with bated breath to see exactly what’s around the corner.
The ‘perfect storm’ story of covid, energy prices and food costs need not be told again, and we sit patiently to see how consumers decide to spend their drastically reduced budgets.
However, the calm after the ‘Christmas storm’ certainly brings people changes in the sector.
Sadly, it can bring industry leavers, but on a more positive note, we hope for promotions, new openings, new budgets and certainly an excitement of people looking for new challenges.
A time for new beginnings…
‘Having a look what’s out there’ is a popular phrase from industry talent in January. Not job hunting per se, just using the month for new beginnings, to pop their head above the parapet.
Taking a look at the data, in January 2022 we saw a 193% increase in people applying for our roles, indicating that there’s an appetite to see whether a new opportunity can fulfil their freshly crafted dreams and career goals for the year ahead.
Welcome to Our House…
At Sixty Eight People we pride ourselves on being the first point of call for many hospitality superstars.
Welcoming candidates into ‘Our House’. We invite them to have honest conversations about their development, to share and solve any challenges they are facing.
A house that’s brimming with career consultants who will help job hunters with every step of the recruitment journey. If a change happens to be in the right direction for them…
If not, our career consultants will happily challenge with a ‘perhaps you should stay where you are and see what this year brings’ or a ‘have you been honest with your line manager about how you are feeling?’
If reasons for leaving are beyond repair, our candidates look to us to offer guidance on the next moves.
With a candidate NPS of 96%, we have proven ourselves to be trusted experts, recruitment buddies and career advisors to some of the best talent the northern hospitality industry has to offer.
How does that help you?
With movement comes vacancies.
A client recently asked me about the benefits of working with a recruitment partner like Sixty Eight. I have a million answers that have flown around my head for the last two decades. Up there, of course, is saving time. The most precious commodity for all those carving out our own careers.
The time saved when a carefully crafted shortlist of quality candidates drops into your inbox really is immeasurable. But it’s not my top reason…
I think the top spot must be our network. This ‘just having a look what’s out there’ crew come to us for inspiration, options, and expertise.
Listening to development needs and matching those with an employer who can deliver on them is our M.O. A trusted third party that advises what it’s really like to work somewhere, what to expect and what not to expect. Our reputation has always been built on honesty and expertise.
THIS is so much more than applying for an ad. Or being approached on LinkedIn. Or being handed a business card over the bar.
Listening for as long as it takes in order to authentically match a manager’s expertise and dreams with your skill gaps and needs. And my goodness… we are good at that.
I’ve probably banged on enough about how we can help. I shout about our services as I think recruiters can be hugely underestimated and because it makes me incredibly proud to sit and listen to our team of experts empathising, coaching, advising, and even counselling the network of superstars we have built friendships with.
Who wouldn’t want to be a part of Our house?
I just want to take the time to say THANK YOU for being part of ‘Our House, part of the revolution’… x
What’s next for us?
Our quest continues “Through people, we will revolutionise our industry…” through recruitment, training and consultancy.
Not just in the UK… we now recruit Internationally, WOW something I didn’t think I’d be saying which makes me even more excited for what 2023 will bring…
There’s something VERY exciting a little closer to home but I’ll save that for a later date… for now, I wish you the very best for the new year and very much look forward to working together soon x
