Head of HR

FORWARD-THINKING. EXPANDING. AWARD-WINNING. FIRST-TIME APPOINTMENT. EDUCATION SECTOR.

Ready to lead the HR strategy for one of the most exciting, growing nursery brands? This is your chance to join a company with a reputation second to none, where you’ll have the opportunity to shape and drive an HR strategy that makes a real impact across a growing business.

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary up to £70k plus bonus
  • North-based; mostly home-based, with occasional travel to central hubs
  • Progression opportunities to grow your career
  • Be part of a very exciting project shaping the future of this brand

Who are they?

Currently operating across 53 sites in the UK, with exciting expansion plans. You’ll help transform the people function, build the HR team, and oversee the cultural and operational integration of a growing business. Each site operates with plenty of autonomy, so you’ll be working closely with Area Managers, Training Partners, and teams on the ground to manage processes, coach, and develop talent.

What will you be doing?

This role is perfect for someone ready to take the next step and help build something meaningful. The CEO is a true pioneer in the industry, and the business is committed to pushing boundaries and creating a positive work environment.

As Head of HR, you’ll oversee all things people-related, leading a small team while managing key areas such as:

  • Employee Relations: Be the go-to person for ER matters, ensuring a smooth, objective process
  • HR Policy & Strategy: Develop and implement forward-thinking HR strategies across a multi-site environment
  • Performance Management: Lead initiatives to help employees thrive
  • Recruitment: Drive talent acquisition across sites, ensuring the business continues to attract top talent
  • Reward, Recognition & Engagement: Enhance employee engagement and ensure the team feels valued
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance and a safe working environment

What about you?

There are a few non-negotiables:

  • Multi-site HR experience (ideally 20+ sites)
  • Strong coaching and leadership skills
  • Experience with TUPE, ER, and HR processes at scale
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with system integrations
  • Background in a fast-paced, high-volume HR environment (retail or hospitality is a great fit)
  • CIPD or HR degree

You’ll bring creativity to the table, helping shape a people-first culture in a growing business, with a keen desire to get out and about to meet the team. Most importantly, you’ll be able to win hearts and minds by delivering an exceptional employee experience.
